Ok so I may have said that as I unconsciously licked my own…Sorry. But it’s not good for you! And I’m trying to stop. As much as we think it’s moisturizing them, it’s not. It dries them out.
My lips are one thing I’m terrible at taking care of. I’ll moisterise my legs daily, take my make up off at night and file my nails. But I always forget the lips.
That being said, they’re the softest, most exposed feature on our face. So we need to take care of them, and luckily for us – there’s plenty of products out there to help.
So I’ve stripped lip care to its basics. Just so it’s a little easier to wrap your head around.
Lip Balm + SPF
I can’t express how important it is to find lip balm products that include SPF protection. Our lips are easily burnt and it is painful when they are. I recommend a beeswax product or blistex is even a great go-to. And I also recommend you carry one around with you constantly as it also acts as a wind barrier, preventing chapped and dry lips.
Tip – make sure to put a coat on just before bed to wake up with a perfect pout in the morning
The most important element to ensure soft and clear looking skin – this includes your lips. Drink plenty of water; it’ll keep them moistened, appear plump and help preserve that soft pink colour. And If you don’t already know the benefits water has then you need to do some research yourself.
Like the rest of your body, it is always good to exfoliate. Getting rid of old skin cells so new ones can come through. Sometimes need to get rid of the dead weight you’re carrying around. Exfoliating your lips is a great way to keep them looking soft and smooth.
Maintain A Healthy Diet
What you put in is what you get out. Literally. You need to eat and drink the right produce to see the results. Making sure you get enough vitamins and minerals each day. Such as Vitamin A (eggs, spinach, carrots, apricots) for healthy growth and repair of skin cells, Vitamin C (citrus fruits & vegetables) to help repair and treat from sun exposure and lastly Vitamin E (leafy vegetables, eggs & nuts) to keep them soft and smooth.
